State police investigate North Stonington armed robbery

NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– Connecticut State Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at the Xtra Mart in North Stonington Friday night.

At 11:15 p.m., troopers from Troop E-Montville responded to a reported robbery at the Xtra Mart convenience store on 226 Route 2 in North Stonington. The clerk reported that a male suspect entered the store and pointed a grey-colored handgun at her and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect is described as a 5’11” white male, with a medium build. He is said to be wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and mask, grey camouflage shorts, black sneakers and gloves. He also is said to have a dark blue tattoo on his right calf.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, he fled on foot in an easterly direction.

Police are actively investigating leads and are asking anyone with information that could aid in this investigation to contact Eastern District Major Crime detectives at 860-848-6548 or text TIP711 with any information to 274637. All tips will remain anonymous.
