MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Middletown Police are investigating a deadly Thursday night crash.
Police were called to the scene, at the intersection of Newfield Street and Fisher Road, shortly after the accident occurred at 6:54 p.m.
According to investigators, the driver of a Toyota Camry is believed to have been stopped on Newfield Street, and was attempting to make a left turn onto Fisher Road. A Honda Pilot, travelling directly behind the Toyota, rear-ended the sedan, causing it to spin out into Newfield Street where it was struck for a second time by a Volkswagen Passat.
The male driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda and the Volkswagen were taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger in the Volkswagen was not injured. The extent of the survivors injuries in not known.
Police have identified the driver of the Toyota as 67-year-old William Fetter.
Newfield Street and Fisher Road remained closed while traffic investigators process the accident scene.
