Cruisin’ Connecticut – Finding the “Top Pick” on an Apple Tree

apple picking at lyman orchards in middlefield

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut, to Middlefield to Lyman Orchards – considered a “top pick” when it comes to finding the perfect apples this time of year!

The farm is celebrating its 275th anniversary with a corn maze, and 100 acres of succulent apples. Orchard Owner, John Lyman says:

We have Macintosh, Galas, Cortlands, Macouns, and Empire coming. Obviously you look for size, but you look and you see the color. So then you just kind of easily twist it off.

Of course there’s all of the apples, but you can’t forget about some of the other fruits:

Well we have pears. People are discovering pears are a really, really good fruit. Connecticut grows a lot of pears.

Check out Lyman Orchards this fall for apple picking, the Apple Barrel market, golf courses, homestead and more!
