NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The New Haven Grand Prix is coming back to the Elm City for a second year in a row.

You might remember this event from last year when a series of afternoon and nighttime bicycle races right near the green and the surrounding area of downtown New Haven.

All of it set to take place on Friday, September 16th. It includes a block party and food trucks in addition to the races. The event will include local riders, as well as professional cyclists from across the country.

New Haven Mayor Toni Harp explained why this event is one of her favorites in the city each year.

What I like about this event, beyond the considerable face value and excitement about bike riding, is the way in which this event fits into New Haven’s evolution into a bike friendly and pedestrian friendly city.”

All the money raised from the event will go to the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program and will help fund education programs throughout New Haven.
