West Haven man crashes car after failing to stop for police

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A West Haven man crashes into another car after failing to stop for police over a traffic violation.

Earl Staton of West Haven was traveling southbound as he approached the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Forest Road in New Haven.

At the same time, another vehicle entered the intersection traveling westbound and both vehicles collided.

The driver of the second vehicle involved was Javon Taylor of Hamden, who had two passengers in his car. One passenger included a 10-year-old child.

All four people involved in the crash were sent to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Prior to the crash, officials say Earl Staton failed to stop for Woodbridge Police, who tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.

The intersection was closed for almost five hours for investigation and reconstruction.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events leading up to the crash to contact Trooper First Class Albert Gorski at 203-630-5639.
