UNCASVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut, to Uncasville to Mohegan Sun! Today we’re rappelling 31 stories (approximately 300 feet) down the side of the casino hotel to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut.

Tribe Chairman, Kevin Brown and Tribe Ambassador, Mark Brown scaled the casino with me. They were seasoned veterans – this being their fifth year participating in “Over the Edge!

It’s for a good cause. Mohegan Sun is proud to sponsor this for the Special Olympics every year and partner. We’re taking 5 to 15 minutes to do what we do… where these athletes spend a whole lifetime with a challenge. So this is a no brainer.

Around 90 people will be rappelling over the edge, and each participant had to raise at least $1,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut. Proceeds support and honor the incredible spirit of close to 13,000 athletes and Unified Sports® partners who train and compete in sports through Special Olympics Connecticut’s year-round sports.

There are still a few available spaces to rappel today (Friday), if you make a minimum of a $1,000 donation to Special Olympics Connecticut. If scaling the casino isn’t your cup of tea, you can also support the Special Olympics Connecticut Unified Sports Fall Festival this weekend, with events across the state!
