MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — The Mayflower II will be towed to Mystic in November despite budget shortfalls.

According to the Boston Globe, fund-raising campaign reached its goal to fix the 60-year-old replica of the ship that is known for carrying the Pilgrims to Plymouth.

It’s restoration campaign is currently three million dollars short of the $7.5 million goal set for November 15.

Officials say they are confident that they will reach the goal, but the money is very critical if the ship is to continue its educational mission, let alone sail again for the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ Landing in 2020.
