Several downtown streets to be closed for New Haven Grand Prix


NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The New Haven Grand Prix is coming back for its second year in the Elm City and with it, come road closures. New Haven City Officials have announced the planned road closures for Friday’s Grand Prix bicycle races.

Officials say city streets will be closed entirely and lanes will be restricted to accommodate the race course throughout Chapel, High, Temple and Elm Streets.

The following downtown streets will be closed for the event:

  • Temple Street – Elm to Chapel Street 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Chapel Street – Temple to High Street 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • College Street – Elm to Crown Street Noon – Midnight
  • High Street – Chapel to Elm Street 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.


Also, Elm Street will only have one travel lane from approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. between York Street and Temple Street.

Officials are advising drivers to seek alternate routes.
