LOS GATOS (KRON) — Netflix is taking on internet service providers over the issue of data caps.

The Los Gatos streaming service is asking the Federal Communications Commission to end the practice.

Netflix says data caps are unreasonable and unfair.

Many internet providers offer data plans where the more you use, the more it costs.

Netflix says these plans discourage people from using broadband services and watching internet-based television.

It claims the average American needs about 300 gigabytes a month if they are watching internet television services.
