New Canaan police investigating two burglaries

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Canaan police investigating two burglaries where jewelry and other items were taken on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the first burglary occurred on Birchwood Avenue at 12:19 p.m. The homeowner was alerted by his video surveillance system that a person was at his house.

The surveillance video showed two suspects breaking into the home through a rear door. The homeowner immediately called police.

Officers were unable to arrest the suspects who git away in a white four door Subaru Impreza Hatchback, older model 2000-2007 which is missing a front license plate.

In the second incident, the suspects entered the home  through an unlocked door on Old Norwalk Road at 2:18 p.m.

The New Canaan Police Department encourages all residents to set alarms, lock doors and install security cameras. Police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity.
