‘Relay for Life’ taking place in Milford this weekend

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The American Cancer Society‘s ‘Relay for Life‘ kicks off at Jonathan Law High School in Milford on Saturday.

The annual event raises money for Cancer research, and brings awareness about what the American Cancer Society does for those battling Cancer, and their families.

In addition to Cancer survivors and caregivers, the ‘Relay for Life’ begins at noon with a complimentary luncheon for survivors. 

Kathy Elson, Co-Chair for the Milford Relay for Life event, explained why the relay is always a great family event.

There will be obstacle courses for the kids, face painting, story telling by princesses, games, activities, Touch-a-Truck with the fire department is going to be here, the Milford police department. It is going to be a great day for everyone.”

The organization hopes to raise between $60,000 to $70,000 this weekend.

Volunteers got off to a great start, already raising $34,000 before the event begins. All of the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Milford Relay for Life starts at noon Saturday, and ends at midnight.
