NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Former New Haven Police Chief Dean Esserman has landed a job at Quinnipiac University, weeks after he resigned from the department.

On Monday, Quinnipiac University sent News 8 the following statement regarding the hiring of Esserman:

“Dean Esserman came aboard today as a senior professional-in-residence for emergency management response. He will examine the university’s emergency response plans to make sure we’re using the best practices to keep the university community as safe as possible,” said Vice President for Public Affairs Lynn Bushnell.

Esserman resigned from the New Haven Police Department on September 2, following a 15-day paid leave, then a temporary sick leave.

Assistant Chief Anthony Campbell is serving as Interim Chief of Police.
