Litchfield High School dismissing early due to small fire

LITCHFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– Litchfield High School dismissed students early Monday after the school was briefly evacuated due to a small fire.

State police says that when troopers responded to the high school, located at 14 Plumb Hill Road, around 7:47 a.m., the fire department had already extinguished the fire. The small fire was caused by a light fixture in the gymnasium.

Students and staff were briefly evacuated from the building. Fire crews are still on the scene.

There were no injures reported and the cause of the fire is unknown. The incident remains under investigation.
