NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – New Haven Police are looking for a man who shot another man in the toe early Monday morning. Around 12:58 a.m., police officers heard gunfire near the area of Grand Avenue and Poplar Street. Officers saw several people running from Pop’s Grocery Store at 267 Grand. Oscar Britt, 25 of New Haven, walked up to police and told them he had been shot in the foot. Britt told police a man he recognized from a nearby bar confronted him in front of the store. Britt asked the man if he was going to shoot him, and he did, the bullet grazing his pinky toe.

Britt told police the man took off in a dark colored Nissan. A short time later, police got a call about a Nissan crashing into a utility pole, snapping it in half. A witness said he saw a man jump out of the car, run back and grab something out of the car, then take off. Police are still looking for the suspect who is described as a black man, about 5’6″ with a “lazy eye” and a large bushy beard.
