MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Stonington Police are looking for the suspect that is responsible for stealing a collecting box from St Edmund’s Retreat on Enders Island in Mystic on Sept. 12th.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man captured on surveillance photos carrying the collection box away from the property.

A spokesman for St Edmund’s says they noticed the box missing on Tuesday morning of Sept. 13th and believe it was taken sometime the night before. The retreat stated the box would have been full from the previous week’s collections because they empty the box on Tuesday’s. They don’t know how much was in the box at the time but depending on the amount of people passing through it could have been anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars. The spokesman said they serve ‘broken’ people and that the person that took the box would have been taken care of if asked.

Enders Island is an 11-acre island off the coast of Mason’s Island in Mystic, CT.
