ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH)- Two K9’s with the Rocky Hill Police Department are getting some new equipment to keep them safer on the job. K9 Baron and K9 Maverick are both getting bullet and stab protective vests through the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s. The vests will be sponsored by the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill and will read, “Be Safe K9s – the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill.” According to the police department, the K9’s should have those new vests within the next eight to ten weeks.
All vests through this non-profit are made in the United States by the company, Armor Express. Each of the vests are valued between $1,795 and $2,234, weigh about four to five pounds and have a five-year warranty.
