NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – New Haven Police say a pizza delivery man was able to turn the tables on a would-be robber, when he grabbed his gun and shot him. Early Tuesday morning, police got a call about gunshots on Colony Road. When they got there a 43 year old pizza delivery man stopped the officers and told them he had been robbed at gunpoint. The delivery man said he went to a home on Colony Road to deliver pizza. When he called the number the order came from, a man walked out from the side of a house and pulled a gun on him. The gunman demanded cash, and the driver gave him some, then he demanded food and the driver gave him some. The gunman then demanded the delivery man’s wallet. He said he didn’t carry one. Police say the gunman threatened to kill the delivery man. Police say the delivery man was able to wrestle the gun from the robber and fire several shots. A few hours later, police got a call about a man who walked into Yale New Haven hospital with a minor gunshot wound. Police identified Shawn Pauls, 24, as the armed robber. Pauls has been released from the hospital and is facing a list of charges.
