New Haven police investigating late night homicide

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they are investigating a homicide that happened late Wednesday night around 10 p.m.

According to New Haven Police Media Liaison David Hartman, an adult male was shot in the backyard of 38 Dorman Street located between Dixwell Avenue and Sherman Parkway.

The victim, 31-year-old Levern Bellamy, was found in the backyard of the home. According to police, Bellamy lived next door to where the shooting occurred at 36 Dorman St.

Bellamy was transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police are still unclear on what happened and who is responsible for the shooting.
