New Haven police: Felon admits to shooting outside store

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A felon has admitted to a shooting in New Haven, according to authorities.

Police say 42-year-old Tory McCotter admitted to shooting Oscar Britt in the foot outside Pop’s Grocery Store on Grand Avenue early Tuesday morning, then crashing into a utility pole after driving off.

ORIGINAL STORY: New Haven man shot in toe

The Shelton Avenue man was arrested on Wednesday. He’s charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and first-degree reckless endangerment. He’s being held on $100,000 bond.
