GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — A mandatory watering ban has been set by the Greenwich Board of Selectman for Thursday.
Greenwich police say the ban is due to a water supply emergency caused by local conditions.
Violations of the ban include:
- All outdoor water use including the watering of lawns etc.
- No use of water to wash down driveways and sidewalks
- No use of water to wash cars in you driveways
- No use of water to wash buildings or windows.
Police said they have the right to issue a fine of $91 per offense but are not actively seeking violators.
“Our plan is to inform and educate our citizens, and we are confident that the residents of Greenwich once informed will cooperate. If we are unable to garner voluntary compliance through education and warning our officer’s have been instructed to enforce the Town Ordinance.”
