Willimantic PD investigate serious crash

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — The Willimantic Police Department is investigating a serious crash.

Police responded to a one-car crash at Wednesday evening at 7:35 p.m. on Jackson Street near the intersection of Prospect Street. Upon arrival, officers found a Chevrolet sedan that had collided nearly head on with a wooden Eversource utility pole.

Willimantic Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and had to free the driver from the vehicle. The unidentified male was transported to Windham Hospital by City Fire Ambulance.

After arriving at the hospital, the male was quickly airlifted to Hartford hospital by LifeStar Helicopter. He is now being treated and remains in serious condition.

Willimantic Police Department say this is an ongoing investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to contact Officer Matthew Nixon at (860) 465-3135.
