Physical therapist pleads guilty to tax fraud counts

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH)- Federal authorities have announced a physical therapist from Weston has pleaded guilty to both tax fraud and obstruction charges.

48 year old Danielle Faux faces a maximum prison term of five years on the obstruction count and a possible term of three years for the tax count. Faux also faces up to 350,000 dollars in fines on both counts. According to court documents and statements Faux owns Danielle Faux P-T, a physical therapy clinic located in Norwalk.

According to federal officials, a contractor for the Medicare program conducted an audit of Faux’s practice in 2009 and found evidence of wrongdoing related to billing and services provided. As part of her plea, Faux also admitted to skimming checks and cash proceeds from her physical therapy practice and not declaring that income on her federal tax return. Faux is scheduled to be sentenced on December 15, 2006.
