(WTNH) — Connecticut State Police have identified the officer who shot Michael Goodale in the Fox Tower parking garage at Foxwoods Casino on Tuesday.

The officer has been identified as Sergeant Kevin Leach. State police say Leach has been with the Mashantucket Tribal Police Department for three years, after retiring from the Norwich Police Department.

On Tuesday, police tried to serve an arrest warrant on Goodale, who was wanted for violation of probation. When police tried to arrest him, police say Goodale pulled a gun on them. Goodale did not listen when officers told him to drop his weapon. Police say that’s when Leach fired at least one round from his weapon. Goodale then fell from the fourth level of the Fox Tower garage on to a paved driveway below.

State police say the Eastern District Major Crime is continuing to investigate.
