NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to Tomato & Co. – a New Haven pizzeria that bakes up your pie in 90 seconds, and has it stretched, sauced, and served up in three minutes.
Pizzeria owner, Dominick Mirabile has been “kneading with love” for 11 years:
My family owns pizza places in New York. Dad would take me to work as a punishment if I wasn’t doing well in school. And he said if you weren’t doing well in school, this is what you’ll be doing. So it backfired because I really enjoy it.
When you’re on-the-go, Tomato & Co. prides itself on being the “Chipotle of Pizza” with an efficient business model:
So from the time you order to the time you pay, you’re out the door in three or four minutes. Once it goes inside the oven, we’re cooking at about 1000 degrees. It was completely built in Italy. We have a rotating stone. Using old-world technology, and just putting a modern twist to it.
What started as a few bites of both the vodka and buffalo chicken pizzas, led to two entire pizzas. I’m going to go take a nap now.
