NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Now that it’s cooling off in New England, you’ll have to travel in order to indulge in warmer weather. October tends to be a cheap month to travel, but you may save even more money if you wait until January!
January may actually be the time to stretch your dollar the furthest when it comes to traveling. The holidays are such a busy travel time: it comes to a grinding halt in January so companies have to do more to fight for your business and since they’re not as busy, your experience is likely to be a lot better.
Here’s what you’ll find: flights are cheaper. Go Banking Rates experts say January is 15 percent cheaper than November and 23 percent cheaper than December. The cheapest is to fly on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in January. They say hotels are a better deal, especially if you book after the new year.
Cruises are really inexpensive. A cruise expert told the site that moving a cruise from December to January can save you hundreds of dollars. January travel is also easier because fresh off the busy holiday season, the crowds are a lot lighter – meaning you can cruise through the lines.
Parking at the airports will also go down where there are fewer people traveling and something you may not think about: It’s also healthier because you escape the seasonal depression that starts to set in that time of year. It’s good to give yourself a break and get a little Vitamin D. It’ll keep you happy and healthy as well as your wallet.
