Moosup man killed after striking tree in Route 169 car accident


BROOKLYN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police are investigating after a Moosup man was killed in an early morning car accident on Route 169 in Brooklyn.

Police say a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle, driven by 36-year-old Randy Mayo, was driving southbound on the road when it crossed the double yellow lines into the northbound lane just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, the vehicle then crossed into the northbound shoulder before Mayo lost control of the car and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
