Orange, Conn. (WTNH) Police in Orange are telling people around town to stay alert for a distraction style burglary after an incident with a homeowner on Fairlea Road last week.

According to police, a man in his 30’s with blonde hair and small, gold-rimmed eyeglasses and speaking with a stutter knocked on the door of a house on Farlea and met with the homeowner. The person claimed to be from the Town of Orange and the State of Connecticut and had been sent to the home to arrange for some trees to be cut down.

The homeowner became suspicious because the person was not wearing clothing suitable for tree work. The homeowner told the guy to leave the property. Police say they suspect that another person was working in conjunction with the person who approached the homeowner with the idea of burglarizing the property.
