(WTNH) — According to a new study from Yale University, politics could play a role in the care doctors provide to patients.

The research shows, when it comes to some hot button issues, care may vary.

Politics did not make a difference in doctors advising about depression or alcohol abuse. It did play a role when it came to advice about firearm safety or reacting to a patient’s prior abortions.

Researchers say both patients and doctors should be aware of the potential for political views to influence care.
