BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP/WTNH) — Police in Bridgeport have arrested three city residents in connection with the death of a 41-year-old man who was struck by a thrown brick.
33-year-old Anthony Martinez and 41-year-old Mari Vargas were both charged with first-degree murder in the July 16 death of Edy Morales.
Investigators say Martinez and Vargas were among a group of people on Jane Street that threw objects at a Jeep Cherokee.
The third suspect, Christopher Fonseca, also faces a manslaughter charge.
A brick smashed through the front passenger side window of the Jeep and struck Morales in the head. After having trouble breathing, Morales was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead.
A fourth suspect, 29-year-old Jonathan Dejesus remains at large and is being actively sought by Bridgeport Police.
Police said the suspects were identified on surveillance video and when questioned told detectives that the occupants of the vehicle had been disrespectful to them.
