WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Officials at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced late Wednesday afternoon that they have reached a multi-year agreement on the renewal of their contract with Yale Medicine.
In a news release Wednesday afternoon, Anthem confirmed that covered services provided by Yale Medicine providers to Anthem members will remain in-network without interruption. The terms of the contracts will not be released, according to officials from both parties.
According to Wednedsay’s announcement, Yale Medicine and Anthem will broaden their relationship by implementing new approaches to managing cost and quality that provide incremental value to their mutual constituents. The new arrangement will create a tighter integration that will promote more proactive and coordinated management of Yale Medicine’s patients across the care continuum.
Jill R. Hummel, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, expressed how important the collaboration is between Anthem and Yale Medicine.
We are pleased our members will continue to have access to Yale Medicine’s providers. We are particularly excited by this new arrangement because of its focus on patient centered care and value based payment. This collaboration presents an excellent opportunity for Anthem and Yale Medicine to work together to improve patient health and outcomes while reducing the costs associated with avoidable admissions and services. When providers are given the tools and resources they need to focus on prevention, wellness and the coordination of care, and are rewarded when they improve health, it’s a recipe for success.”
