Ask the Doctor: Cancer Screenings

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — In this week’s Ask the Doctor segment, we’re talking about cancer screenings.

Double board certified in reconstructive and plastic surgery, Dr. Beth Collins, joined News 8 to talk about the subject.

Some of the questions we asked:

– A big story this week: Actor Ben Stiller announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and his doctor caught it through a specific test?

– October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. How important is it for women to get screened?

– Some people are genetically predispositioned. There’s a gene called the “BRCA” gene?

Check out the video above for Dr. Beth’s answers, and catch News 8 at 5 p.m. every Wednesday for our “Ask the Doctor” segments.
