STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say two men from Stratford have been arrested after police found an illegal weapon in their car.

Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, police pulled over a car on Boston Avenue near Barnum Avenue when a car didn’t use its turn signal on Peace Street.

The driver, 24-year-old Christian Kennedy, and his passenger, 21-year-old Hasani Dixon, were arrested when officers found a gun hidden under one of the seats. Police say after the men were arrested, Kennedy allegedly directed “racial slurs” toward one of the officers and spit on him.

Kennedy and Dixon were both charged with illegal transfer of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and weapon in a motor vehicle. Kennedy was also charged with interfering with an officers, assault on a police officer and failure to signal.

Both were held on $100,000 bond and are due in court on October 13.
