NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — More than 200 police officers completed an “emotional survival and wellness” seminar.

The North Haven, Hamden and East Haven police chiefs issued a joint statement, which said in part:

“The wellness of police officers is one of the more contemporary issues in policing. This seminar offered greater insight, and a reminder, to our officers of the need to maintain good physical and mental health throughout their careers.”

The statement went on to describe the greater morbidity and mortality rates present that police face compared to the general public.

The seminar was held Oct. 3-5 in North Haven.
