Groton police make second arrest in shooting outside 99 Restaurant


GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — On Friday, Groton police arrested a second juvenile in connection with a targeted shooting outside of the 99 Restaurant Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 99 Restaurant parking lot on Long Hill Road for a reported shooting where they found a 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Two suspects were reported running from the scene. The victim was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for emergency surgery.

Earlier this week, police arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the shooting. On Friday, police arrested a second 17-year-old and charged him with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree accessory to robbery, first-degree accessory to assault and first-degree robbery.

Police say the juvenile was processed at the Groton Police Department then transferred to the Hartford Juvenile Detention Center.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and at least one more arrest is expected.
