Decorating your house for Halloween

NEW HAVEN Conn. (WTNH) — Halloween is just days away and that means all of our guests for Halloween parties will soon be knocking at your door.

Showing us how to make the outside of your home pop during Halloween season is party and event planner Lisa Antonecchia.

Metallic are on trend especially during the fall, so use them to add season accents to your entry. Purchase inexpensive plastic jack-o-lanterns and caldrons at the store, and spray them with silver, gold, and copper metallic paint, using all three colors added texture to the look, creative levels with small, medium and large can also help. Purchase season mums and place in your painted containers and group in clusters at the entry to your home. Use some season props in your color scheme and you are set. You don’t just have to have a carved pumpkin, instead you can make a look that is fun and sophisticated.

When presenting your food and beverage can add not only visual interest to the table but you can create a true theme. Taking Pre-Painted flower pots, with Halloween images on them, and use them for your guests salads or crudité presentation. Use holiday shot glasses to pass out hors oeuvres, people love individual food options, and the mini shot glasses help to tie it into the Halloween Spirit. Use wooden trays from the home décor store, paint to match your theme and use to pass out your fun appetizers.
