SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– Part of I-84 westbound is closed in Southington due to a truck fire with a hazmat situation.
The Department of Transportation reports that I-84 westbound is closed between exits 33 and 32 due to a motor vehicle fire. The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. and the highway is expected to remain closed for one hour or less.

State police report that the vehicle is a truck and that the fire contains hazmat. The left and center lanes are open but the right lane and shoulder remain closed. Troopers were diverting traffic off I-84 in the area of I-691.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed in the area and expect delays.
The cause of the fire is unknown. There is also no word on any injuries at this time.
