24 year-old pizza shop owner served up winning lotto ticket

24 year-old pizza shop owner, Samuel Silva, wins $50,000 on scratch-off lottery ticket.

GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — A twenty-four-year-old Greenwich pizza shop owner was delivered a lucky surprise by winning $50,000 on a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Samuel Silva of Fairfield says he plays the lottery “Once in a blue moon”, but after his employees mentioned playing the Lottery, Silva decided to try his luck on a “5X The Money 8th Edition” ticket.

Silva headed across the street to play not knowing his ticket would show a $50,000 top prize!  Using a penny to scratch the ticket, the pizza shop owner plans to save the “lucky penny”.

When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, Silva responded with a smile, “Save up.  Back to work—probably go celebrate in New York City with friends.”

For selling the winning ticket, Greenwich Cigar Store located on 91 Railroad Avenue in Greenwich will receive a $500 check from the CTLottery.

The overall chances of winning a 5X The Money prize are 1 in 3.63.  Of the game’s 8 top prizes each worth $50,000, 1 remains to be claimed.
