New London Police track down man caught in possession of cocaine & heroin

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) –New London Police say they have arrested a fleeing man today who was caught with cocaine and heroin in his possession.

The activity of a New London man triggered the suspicion of an adult probation officer in the area of Colver St where police were contacted to respond to. The man was identified as Dana Kirkwood, who took off on a bicycle. New London officers spotted Kirkwood ride past them on Connecticut Ave where they began following him. Once Kirkwood saw a detective he ran on foot where the chase lead to his capture into the residential backyards on Briggs St, according to police.

Police say Kirkwood was searched by a patrol officer and a detective where they located located 12.8g of cocaine and 5.5g of heroin on him.

Kirkwood was arrested, and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and interfering with a police officer. At the time the police report was sent, Kirkwood was held on $100,000 bond.
