Police arrest 2 in connection with New Britain hit-and-run

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Britain police have arrested two men they say were involved in a hit-and-run that left a 55-year-old man in critical condition.

On Thursday night, 55-year-old Gerald Aleksiewicz was hit by a car in the parking lot of 75 Arch Street. Police say Aleksiewicz was taken to a local hospital where he is still in critical condition.

On Tuesday, police arrested 31-year-old Christopher Myers, who they say was driving the car that hit Aleksiewicz. He is charged with felony evading responsibility and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested 35-year-old Anthony Omar Rios-Ruiz. Police say after the accident on Thursday, Rios-Ruiz gave officers a false name and a false account of the accident. Police determined Rios-Ruiz was a passenger in Myers’ vehicle. He is charged with interfering with police and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
