3 New Yorkers arrested in Westport for forged checks

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Three people were arrested on Wednesday in Westport, for allegedly forging checks totaling more than $74,000.

According to police, officers followed three people after a suspicious-looking exchange involving a car with an out-of-state license plate.

When officers asked them what they were all doing in Westport, all three had a different response, police said. Investigators seized several forged checks totaling over $74,000 from the car.

Police arrested 31 year-old, Alphonso Stewart, of Brooklyn, New York, 28 year-old Maliki Conttrell of Yonkers, New York, and 27 year-old Rashon Perkins, of Bronx, New York.

Cottrell was also charged with third degree ID theft and interfering with an officer for additional fake ID’s in his possession.
