WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have identified one suspect that is connected with recent burglaries that have happened in Westport.
The suspect has been taken into custody for crimes that occurred in other jurisdictions and has confessed to the recent burglaries.
Police said they believe people have been knocking on doors to identify unoccupied homes. When a person opens the door, the suspects come up with a story about a broken down vehicle or internet postings.
According to police the encounters have been ending with the suspicious men leaving the area of the Greens Farms and Easton Road sections of town.
Westport police are requesting residents to remain alert to their surroundings and to call police at (203) 341-6080 if they see anything suspicious.
The investigation is ongoing and police are working with other local communities to identify and apprehend those involved.
