3 men arrested with fraudulent checks totaling more than $74,000, Westport Police say

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — The Westport Police Department says officers noticed suspicious activity in the area of Post Road East and Bulkley Avenue on Wednesday, October 12th.

Police say when they spoke to the three parties about their reason for being in the area, their stories did not match.

From the investigation, police allegedly found fraudulent checks totaling more than $74,000. Alphonso D. Stewart, 31, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Maliki Cottrell, 28, of Yonkers, N.Y., Rashon Perkins, 27, of Bronx, N.Y. were arrested around 11:30 a.m.

They are all charged with forgery, conspiracy to commit larceny, and ID theft. They are being held on $50,000 each at Westport Police Department.

Cottrell is also being was charged with ID theft in third degree and interfering with an officer for additional fake ID’s in his possession.
