Woman arrested on DUI charges in fatal I-91 crash

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH)– A Newington woman was arrested on DUI charges after a crash on I-91 in Windsor Locks left one man dead Saturday afternoon.

Police say at around 2 p.m., a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Ford F350sup truck were traveling north on I-91, prior to exit 44, when the truck was rear ended by the Volkswagen. This caused the truck to lose control and swerve across the roadway, where it struck a metal guardrail and rolled over.

The driver of that truck, identified as 46-year-old Kevin Dutra, of Colchester, died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say additional charges are also pending.

Gunning is currently being held on $150,000 bond and the crash remains under investigation. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call state police at 860-534-1000.

I-91 was closed for several hours Saturday for the investigation but has since been reopened.
