Hartford Police investigating Zion Street shooting

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in Hartford are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left two people injured.

Police responded to a ‘ShotSpotter’ detection system activation in the area of 593 Zion Street at 7:36 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered blood on the ground in front of 597 Zion Street. Dispatch alerted officers that a victim, Eric Lozada 24, of Hartford, had arrived at Hartford Hospital in a private vehicle

Hartford officers went to the hospital in order to assist with the investigation and noted that the victim was already being treated. Lozada was reportedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Patrol officers secured and canvased the area for any additional information or victims. There were no witnesses to be found.

According to police, a second victim, Raul Santana 24, of Hartford, was found hiding from officers on the rear third floor porch of the home on 601 Zion Street. The injuries sustained were non-life threatening.

Both of the victims are convicted felons actively on probation and have extensive arrest history. The victims are in stable condition.
