Drugs seized, 8 arrested in Hartford bust

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Eight people have been arrested and hundreds of bags of drugs have been seized in a Zion Street apartment bust.

On Friday, Hartford police say they executed a search warrant at 535/537 Zion Street, second floor north apartment. Police say detectives had learned several people were allegedly selling drugs from the apartment and people from Puerto Rico were staying at the apartment with guns as “enforcers.”

According to police, the building had surveillance cameras and the suspects were able to see who was coming into the building. As officers moved into the building, they say several people from the apartment left out of the back door, went in other apartments or tried to run through the backyard.

Inside an apartment, police found a woman, as well as a loaded .22 caliber gun, 470 bags of heroin and 270 bags of crack. Other officers stopped and arrested the people who tried to run away. Police also found 13 fentanyl patches, $300 and 10 bags of heroin.

The following people were arrested; 47-year-old Armando Colon, 33-year-old Eduardo Ortiz, 58-year-old Frank White, 36-year-old Bradley Gonzalez, 33-year-old Ramon Benitez, 21-year-old Hipolito Aldana, 52-year-old Teresita Castro-Luna and 38-year-old Luis Rivera.
