Branford police arrest 2 men with stolen van, tires

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Branford Police arrested two men they say stole a van in Bridgeport, and then began stealing parts from other vehicles in Branford.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Branford officers responded to Brandfon Honda, located at 515 West Main Street, after receiving a video motion alarm. According to police, an alert motorist also reported seeing a suspicious van in the vicinity of the car dealership.

Officers located the van with two occupants nearby at 1 Jefferson Road. Jose Pinto 39, of New Haven and David Roldan 41, of Branford, were arrested and taken into custody. The officers determined that the van was reported stolen in Bridgeport, and that the vehicle contained three stolen tire and rim assemblies along with multiple hand tools.

Officers went to the car dealership on West Main Street, and were able to locate the vehicle that had parts removed.

Pinto and Roldan are facing multiple charges, including larceny, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.Both men were held on a $10,000 bond, and appeared in New Haven Court on Monday.
