MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Milford police officers responded to a report on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. about suspicious males that were seen walking around the lot at Courtney Honda on Bridgeport Avenue. Prior to arriving at the scene, officers were notified that there was video surveillance of the two men taking tires and rims off of cars in the lot and that the two men fled the scene in a white SUV.
The officers later located the SUV in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and School House Road. Inside the truck with the two men, Franky Cortez and Steven Green, were cinder blocks, cutting tools, a vehicle jack and a tire iron. Several vehicles at the dealership had parts removed and windows that had been smashed. The two men damaged over $12,600 worth of vehicle parts and were arrested.
Cortez 45, of Newburgh, N.Y., was charged with larceny 2nd degree, conspiracy to commit larceny 2nd degree, criminal mischief 2nd degree (4 counts) and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief 2nd degree (4 counts). Green 40, of Bronx N.Y., was charge with conspiracy to commit larceny 2nd degree and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief 2nd degree.
Cortez was released on a $100,000 non-surety bond and will appear in Milford Court on November 15th. Green was held on a $100,000 bond and appeared in Milford Court on Wednesday.
