Power restored at UConn after outage Monday

STORRS, Conn. (WTNH) — Power is restored at the University of Connecticut after a squirrel triggered a power outage that knocked out power to several campus buildings Monday.

University officials canceled all classes in the affected buildings for Monday. Classes will be held as scheduled in buildings where power was never lost.

UConn police tell News 8 that the power outage was caused when a squirrel got into a transformer, which caused a circuit to be disrupted. The squirrel did not survive, according to officers.

A few of the buildings that are affected are:

AG-Biotech Lab Annex
Baldwin Hall
Bishop Center
Buckley Hall
Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts
School of Fine Arts
South Campus Residence Halls
Torrey Life Sciences
