NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Mayor Toni Harp is warning residents and students that the voter registration cut off date is November 1st.

Mayor Toni Harp will be holding a press conference on Tuesday morning to emphasize the voter registration deadlines.

Anyone who has moved into a new home or has just turned 18 must register in order to be eligible to vote in this year’s election on November 8th.

The deadline for on-line and mail-in voter registration looms. Connecticut state law does allow people to register in person on the day of the election, but Mayor Harp encourages residents to avoid the long lines be registering as soon as possible. Long lines puts you at the risk of not completing your registration in time to vote.

The press conference will begin at 11:30am on the second floor of New Haven’s City Hall.
