SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) – A Bridgeport man is facing charges after police say he smashed his way into a Shelton convenience store early Wednesday morning. Around 1:30 a.m. Shelton police responded to a burglar alarm at the Scooters convenience store at 484 Bridgeport Ave. The front glass of the store had been smashed and the store burglarized. A Shelton Police Detective who was working an overnight private duty job up the street, saw a silver Pontiac pass him just before the burglary and happened to write down the license plate. Around 3:00 a.m. Bridgeport Police stopped a car that matched the description. Inside they found Kenny Zavier Tapia, 21 of Bridgeport. Police say his clothes matched the description of the suspect. They say they also found burglary tools and tolls of coins in his car.

Tapia is charged with Burglary, Larceny and Criminal Mischief. Shelton Police say more arrests may be coming.
